Selection in the Player Rater Team of the Season is based on player ratings - collected throughout the 2011 season. For the most part players have been selected in their preferred positions, the downside to this system is that highly rated players miss out on selection. Marc Murphy and Matthew Boyd (Ranked 7th and 8th overall) have missed selection in favour of true wingmen and half forwards.

The interchange has been selected by position, Mumford takes the role of back up ruckman, Mitchell - midfield, Scotland - defence, and Embley is included as the utility.
