Brownlow count according to Player Rater

14th September 2010 Category: Feature

According to the ratings of Player Rater users Dane Swan is set be the runaway 2010 Brownlow Medal winner.

If you convert the Player Rater ratings from each game this year into Brownlow style 3,2,1 votes*, the numbers have Dane Swan winning the count by 7 votes from Luke Hodge and Chris Judd. If Swan does go on to poll 32 votes, he'll equal the record held by St Kilda's Robert Harvey (1998).

At a glance the count appears high, but the numbers aren't unprecedented. In 2007 8 players polled 20 votes or more and last year Gary Ablett polled 30 votes from only 19 games played.

Swan played all 22 home and away games in 2010 and is expected to poll in up to 14. Swan's high numbers are expected to be reached on the back of a 10 game mid-season run of votes from round 11.

- Despite missing the first 3 games of the season, Chris Judd will be at the top of the leaderboard after round 10.
