How Player Rater Works
Player Rater provides a facility for users to rate and comment on the performance of AFL players, coaches, teams and umpires.
How the site works:
Player Rater collects and calculates ratings provided by users for every game of the AFL season. The ratings provided are calculated to generate an average game rating for all individuals and teams involved in a game.
Performances can be rated both during the game and post game.
Individual game ratings are recorded and stored round by round. Game ratings are in turn averaged out to produce overall season ratings for all individuals and teams.
Ratings and comments are recorded and displayed through player profiles, the leaderboard and your own individual user profiles.
Quick Guide Tutorial
FAQ's
How do I rate?
Once a game has commenced the "rate" button will appear on the home page next to the relevant fixture. This button allows you to click through to the rating page where (once you're logged in) you can rate players, coaches, teams and umpires involved in that fixture.
Games will stay open for rating up until an hour before the commencement of the next round.
Can I change my rating?
Users can change their ratings as many times as they wish throughout the week in which a game is played. Ratings close an hour before the commencement of the next round.
How do you know the team squads for each fixture are correct?
Player Rater receives up to the minute data feeds from Champion Data to ensure that all team squads are accurate.
How does the leaderboard work?
The leaderboard displays the top ranked players, coaches, teams and umpires in the league.
The leaderboard can be customized to display a range of different rankings. By applying filters you can view rankings by club, position and round.
Qualified players?
To be displayed on the "qualified players" leaderboard, players must have played over 75% of games completed. This filter is put in place to show more relevant results, but this filter can be turned off if you wish to view all players.
What are Predicted Ratings and how are they calculated?
Predicted Ratings are calculated using a system that incorporates statistics from the 2009 AFL season. Factors such as expectation, popularity, draft ranking and club value also come into account.
Predicted Ratings have no impact on the user generated ratings entered over the season, they are intended to be viewed as a benchmark for player performance, to determine whether or not players are performing above or below expectation. The lowest Predicted Rating is 5.5 (generally first year players) and the highest Predicted Rating is 8.4 (Gary Ablett Jnr.).
